Established in 1982 by Massimo Osti as a diffusion line of his main label — C.P. Company — Stone Island is an Italian luxury label with a devotion for extensive research, continual experimentation, function and use. Today, helmed by Carlo Rivetti — who took over the whole estate in 1993 — Stone Island offers a range of highly-technical apparel, footwear and accessories which reference, and speak to a range of ’80s and ’90s sub-cultures.
By using advanced technology, experimentation with garment dyeing techniques and human capacity, Stone Island has become renowned for its aesthetic and functional qualities. The Italian brand’s products are instantly recognisable thanks to its signature compass patch — positioned on the upper left arm sleeve — a symbol held on by two buttons that references love for the sea and an aim for constant research.
