[ Double Taps ]

Founded in 1996 by Tetsu Nishiyama in Tokyo, WTAPS is itself derived from a military term. Pronounced as ‘double taps’ — the ‘W’ shorthand for double — the term, references a shooting technique wherein two shots are fired in rapid succession at the same target. A fitting name, considering the label has remained focused on military-inspired apparel throughout its 25+ year history. The brand’s different approach is disrupting the fashion industry — their unevenly bleached garments, items adorned with cuts and rips, black and olive colours, distressed, pre-washed styles and cargo pockets are just one tiny part of what the Japanese label has to offer.
