1017 ALYX 9SM (formerly ALYX) is an Italian-made luxury label with a very strong link to streetwear. Founded in 2015 by Matthew Williams, 1017 ALYX 9SM‘s innovative design is inspired from the USA skate, punk and club sub-cultures — aggressively elegant, with an edgy spin on utility, safety and sustainable production. Industrial details underscore the label’s utilitarian line, while sturdy, silver-tone hardware mixes seamlessly with streamlined tailoring and workwear silhouettes. ALYX (pronounced “ah-leeks”) is named after Williams‘ daughter, the number 1017 is a reference to the designer’s birthday, October 17, and 9SM is taken from the label’s founding studio address in Saint Mark’s Place, New York.
