Adidas SPZL

In 1979, Adidas Spezial was created as a handball shoe for the very demanding on footwear indoor sports. In the ’80s, the robust kicks had become an integral part of the terrace casual movements in football and beyond. In 2013, Gary Aspden, a long-time consultant for Adidas, resurrected the popularity of the Adidas SPZL with an exhibition at the Hoxton Gallery in London, which spurred consequent capsule collections comprising footwear and clothing each season, which look back at the archival history of the brand.
